Shade and Well-Being

Shade supports and facilitates well-being in several ways. First, trees providing medicinal value (such as neem) offer several benefits to those occupying the shade they provide. For example, when footpath businesses are set up under the shade of neem trees, the neem trees, apart from providing shade, also provide mosquito-repelling and antifungal effects.

Additionally, trees with dense canopies create peaceful and shaded environments well-suited to long-term pauses. The canopies of these trees, especially when many such trees are placed close to each other, also create a noise-reducing and cooling effect

Trees with several branches and dense canopies, besides reducing noise and providing shade, also create habitats for various birds, insects and animals. Under the shade of such trees, one feels a sense of ease and peace that is brought about by the cool microclimatic conditions, the silence, and the sound of chirping birds and animals carrying on with their days.

Have you experienced shade as a facilitator of well-being? We'd love to hear about your experiences!
